Free Red Cross Psychological First Aid Course

Published on October 23, 2024

We’re reaching out to Team Canada alumni today with a unique opportunity to earn a certification, build your CV, and support Team Canada 2025 and their friends and families.
Canadian Red Cross is offering training to become a certified Psychological First Aid Instructor. This designation will allow you to teach essential Psychological First Aid – Self-Care & Wellness online workshops to athletes, their families, and friends before the Invictus Games in February 2025. True Patriot Love and the Canadian Red Cross are proud to offer this training free of charge through the generous support of Teck Resources.

This is a three-day online training session, where you will learn skills and knowledge to teach the online Self-Care & Wellness course. Self-Care & Wellness is a 3.5 hour online course and includes self-directed and Instructor-led virtual sessions. The Canadian Red Cross has customized the course content to include case studies relevant to the athletes’ experience as Veterans.
The Self-Care & Wellness course offers a safe space for individuals to share experiences and gain self-care strategies that will help increase personal resilience during times of heightened stress. Once you have your certification, you will be able to provide this course training to competitors, their families, and friends so they can:

  • develop a self-care plan
  • learn the Red Cross Look, Listen, Link, Live model
  • connect with peers and
  • apply self-care principles through case-based learning, group discussion and personal reflection.

Thank you for helping provide mental health supports to our athletes at the 2025 Invictus Games! If you have any questions about the training, please send an email to [email protected]
